5 Natural Ways to Detox Yourself

5 Natural Ways to Detox Yourself

A detox is the process in which one rids the body of unhealthy substances, which too often are caused by a poor diet. Most detoxification process today are effective, but there are some that can be considered too extreme and can do more harm to the body than good. If you are to go through detox in order to feel healthier and more energized without experiencing any side effects, your best option is to go natural. Here are five ways you can do it.

Restore Your Body Through Relaxation

When people encounter the word ‘detox’, the first thing that comes into their minds is food. While detox is mostly about food and eating, it’s not limited to what you put inside your mouth; detox is also about rejuvenation. If there is one way to repair and restore your body, it’s through rest and relaxation. Relaxation is the first step to an effective detox. Most of the things that hurt our bodies are stress-related, so it’s important to get rid of stress first. One way to relieve the mind and body of stress is by getting enough sleep at night. Keep in mind, though, that the quality of your sleep is just as important as the length of your sleep. To find out how much sleep you should get at night, take advantage of bedtime calculator apps that helps you wake up in-between sleep cycles, so that you can start your day with a clear mind and a rejuvenated body. Aside from getting quality sleep, you can also make it a habit of meditating at least fifteen minutes a day. Yoga can also be a fun and effective way to rejuvenate and restore your body.

Eliminate From Your Diet What Is Unnecessary

Your diet plays a huge role on your attempt to detox. Since your goal is to remove unwanted substances from your body, one of your first steps should be eliminating junk from your daily diet. Processed food, sugar, refined carbohydrates – all these are unnecessary and should not be part of what you eat. Eliminating caffeine, dairy, and alcohol is also a huge step to help you with your detoxification process. It may hurt at first, but it will eventually give you a more focused mind and a more energized body.

Be Active and Stay Active

We all know how exercise can benefit the human body in numerous ways. In terms of detoxification, exercise helps by getting rid of unwanted fat from the body. It also helps clean the skin through perspiration. Exercise doesn’t just help you lose weight, though – it also improves your judgment, increases your focus, boosts your mood, and increases your energy. Make it a habit of adding exercise to your daily routine. As much as possible, try to get at least thirty minutes of physical activity each day.

Eat Organic

Most people only recognize one aspect of detoxification, and that is the elimination of toxins and other unhealthy substances from the body. There’s another crucial aspect of detoxification, though, and that’s fueling your body with the right types of food. Vegetables, fruits, whole grain, nuts, seeds, legumes – these are just some of the whole, clean, and fresh foods you would want to fuel your body to aid it in detoxification. Unlike processed, unhealthy foods, natural produce are filled with more nutrients, are free of harmful substances, and only spell nothing but happiness for your body.

Keep Your Body Hydrated

The keystone to any effective detoxification process is none other than the universal element – water. A good detox requires staying hydrated. It helps boost the efficiency of your digestive system, as well as your liver, which main function is to rid your body of toxins and waste. We know that plain water can be boring, but the good news is that you can add a little variety to with a glass of lemon water or green tea perhaps. If you own a juicer, you can also try mixing some spinach, lemon, ginger, and watercress together and come up with your own green juice.

There seems to be an equal amount of recommendation and cautioning for detox, but in the end, one cannot deny the fact that getting a detox is good for the body. It increases your energy, boosts your immune system, enhances your focus, and helps you lose weight. Don’t take my word for it, though. Try it and experience the benefits for yourself.
