7 Quick Ways To Prevent Early Wrinkles

Wrinkles can affect both our confidence and outward appearance. As we know, premature wrinkles are extremely common in this day and age. We can blame our unhealthy lifestyle and pollution all we want but the truth is there are so many easy ways to get rid of wrinkles. Mini-changes in our diet and lifestyle can do wonders for us.

In this post, I will share with you seven of the quickest ways we can implement today to get rid of wrinkles and prevent premature wrinkles. 

1.   Apply sunscreen lotion every day

The sun’s UV rays can cause a lot of skin complications including wrinkles. Therefore, you will have to take extra effort when going outdoors. Be sure to apply sunscreen lotion and make sure it has at least SPF 15 to protect your skin from harmful UVB and UVA rays. Also, try to avoid squinting and make sure to wear sunglasses while being under the sun to prevent wrinkles from developing.

On a side note, smoke and gasoline fumes can damage your skin and cause premature wrinkles. If possible, try to avoid going to polluted areas.  

2.   Be aware of your own bad habits   

Some people may not be aware of this, but small bad habits can cause premature wrinkles. You might not know that drinking through a straw, blowing bubbles, and chewing gum may lead to wrinkles. 

One of the main contributing factors in developing wrinkles is smoking. It takes away nutrients, oxygen, and boosts free radical production. So if you want to stay wrinkle-free do your skin a favor and stop smoking.

3.   Sleep like a baby   

It is universally accepted that sleep (or lack thereof) has a great impact on our bodies. 

Lack of sleep can cause many health complications including weight gain, depression, and premature aging. 

It is not enough to get adequate sleep; it is wise to choose the right sleeping posture too. Sleeping with the face on the side or directly facing the pillow can cause sleep lines that will turn into wrinkles if we are not careful. It is best that we sleep face up to prevent wrinkles. When you go to bed tonight, focus and make a conscious effort to sleep face up as much as you can.   

4.   Use moisturizer   

We all know that moisturizer has the ability to make our skin smooth and glowing, as well as prevent premature aging. A good moisturizer will hydrate our skin and soften existing wrinkles as it will look more prominent when your skin is dry. So, you can make it less obvious by using a moisturizer twice a day. 

It is best to apply moisturizer in the morning before you head out and at night before going to bed. However, it is imperative that you choose the right moisturizer for your skin type. Otherwise, you might not get the desired benefits.

5.   Exercise daily    

Regular exercise has many benefits as it can make you both physically and mentally fit. When your cardiovascular system functions smoothly, your skin will get the required oxygen and nutrients to look younger than your actual age. 

Make it a habit to do simple exercises daily to boost your heart and skin health. People have this assumption that they have to go to the gym every day for an hour minimum to garner the benefits of exercising, this is not true. Simple 10 minutes of exercising executing from the comfort of your own home can reap tremendous benefits when you do it consistently every day. 

Exercise helps to manage stress. When we are stressed out, our body releases cortisol, a powerful aging hormone. It is also wise to incorporate positive thinking or meditation into your daily exercise routine to further reduce stress too. 

Less stress = younger-looking skin.

6.   Take omega 3 & follow a healthy diet   

Our diet determines our health. If you eat healthily, you will look and feel healthy. Make sure to consume DHA and EPA omega 3 fatty acid-rich food. Follow a diet that is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to combat wrinkles and to look younger. 

An unhealthy diet will not only cause wrinkles, but it will also affect the overall glow of your skin. Avoiding highly processed foods is also a smart way to prevent harmful damages to your skin. Processed foods contain chemicals that are proven to cause premature aging.   

7.   Hydrate your skin by drinking plenty of water 

Drinking water is the easiest way to prevent premature aging. Water hydrates and nourishes your skin from the inside out and is essential to keep your skin soft, smooth, and glowing. If you don’t drink enough water, your skin will start to lose elasticity and will be susceptible to signs of aging such as wrinkles. Cut down on carbonated drinks and drink plenty of water throughout the day to maximize the benefits.   

Follow these 7 simple ways to combat wrinkles and look younger. It is true we cannot stop aging completely. But we can delay the process with a healthy diet and lifestyle.
