Dogs are Indeed Men’s Best Friends. Here are 12 Reasons Why

Dogs are Indeed Men's Best Friends. Here are 12 Reasons Why

A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.“—Josh Billings

If you always feel like nobody loves and cares for you, there’s a 99% chance that you don’t own a dog. It’s just impossible to feel alone and unloved when you have a canine friend around. They’re just some of the cutest, most loyal, and most loving creatures on the face of the planet. Whether they are begging you for food, asking you to take them on an afternoon walk in the park, or simply greeting you with wagging tails when you get home, dogs can do all the little things that can make you feel the luckiest person on planet earth. Here are the 12 reasons why dogs are indeed men’s best friends.

They Don’t Count Your Sins Against You

There’s a saying that people easily forget the good things you have done for them, and yet never fail to recall the only bad thing they’ve seen you doing. Dogs, on the other hand, will never count your faults against you. The reason is that they have awful short-term memory and would forget after a couple of minutes that you messed with their tails or playfully hid their food. It’s a different story, though, if you hurt them on purpose all the time, because even if dogs have poor short-term memories, they also have great long-term memories.

They Never Forget The Benefits of Having You

Because of their great long-term memory, dogs remember forever how good of a friend you are to them. They will never forget the connection you have had with them since the day they met you for the first time.

They Will Always Watch Your Back

A dog is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Yes, their incessant barking every time a stranger passes by can be annoying, but that is only because they are great protectors. Their extreme loyalty can assure you that nobody’s going to hurt you as long as they are around.

They Can Sympathize With You

Dogs have a way of knowing whether you’re feeling happy or sad. They know when something is wrong and are ready to lend a paw. They can easily mimic your emotions just by looking at your body language. When they sense that you are depressed, they will look at you with caring eyes. When they sense that you are angry with someone or something, they will stand beside you growling and prepared to pounce when the need arises.

They Will Always Be There For You…NO MATTER WHAT!

So much for friends who always cancel on appointments at the last minute. They just can’t be relied upon. Dogs, on the other hand, have no reason to leave you hanging, which assures you that they will be with you no matter what. Feel like hanging out at the local bar until five in the morning? Your canine buddy will be you, and for you alone.

They Share Your Passions

Need someone to share your love for painting with? What about with your love for cooking, or your love for playing football, or basketball? No matter what your passions are, you can rest assured that your dog will always be ready to share them with you.

They Are The World’s Most Adorable Stress Busters

Nothing beats stress faster than seeing your dog wagging its tail energetically the moment you step on the gate coming home from work. There’s just something about the grinning mouth and the melting eyes that make you forget all your problems even just for a moment.

They Help You Meet New People

Dogs force us to be social. They are a great way to meet new people and are some of the best conversation starters. Need to move on from a recent breakup? Take your dog for a stroll in the park for an opportunity to meet fellow dog-lovers. Who knows, you might meet your own lover in the process as well.

They Know How to Have Fun!

Dogs simply know how to live the life. The only thing they are concerned about is when they’re going to eat next, what games you’re going to prepare for them tomorrow, and what new places you’re going to visit with them next month. They’re not worried about bills, education, errands, and work-related issues. Yes, these things are important, but dogs teach us that it’s okay to stop once in a while and simply have fun!

They Make the Biggest Problems Seem Small

Not that dogs can offer solutions to your problems (although it’s possible!), but whenever they’re around, it seems that some of your biggest problems instantly become insignificant. Again, dogs are the biggest stress busters, and the positive energy they exude have a way of making you feel like you can overcome anything.

They Know All Your Secrets and They Love You The Same

Finally, dogs offer a kind of love that’s unconditional. Scientists may refer to it as basic animal instinct, but I believe animals like dogs are capable of showing love. In fact, it sometimes seem that dogs understand us better than our fellow human beings do. They don’t judge us and allow us to be our crazy selves. Most importantly, they know our deepest secrets, and yet they love the same.

I know. I only listed eleven. But that’s what the comments section is for! Go ahead and share one particular reason why dogs are indeed man’s best friend!
